The latest media sentiment rankings are based on a report from Press Pulse, which developed an artificial intelligence (AI) sentiment-measuring system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system focuses on South African business reporting from top-tier media publications and measures companies\u2019 success in achieving positive exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sentiment ranking is based on the number of positive, neutral, or negative articles and the reach and influence of the publication where they are published.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Simply put, the more positive articles a company receives, the better its sentiment ranking. The inverse also holds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Online media in South Africa is highly influential, which is why companies invest heavily in public relations and content marketing to get positive exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, before Press Pulse\u2019s new sentiment system, it was difficult for companies to track their performance accurately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The good news is that new advances in artificial intelligence have made it possible to measure media sentiment objectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system uses natural language processing and deep learning for accurate sentiment detection and scoring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It also considers factors like publication size and influence in its algorithm to ensure the ranking is reflective of the real-world impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In short, Press Pulse makes it easy to track online media sentiment and gain insight into how a company performed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovery tops the insurance industry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The latest Press Pulse media sentiment rankings showed that Discovery performed much better than other companies in the insurance industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovery received a positive media sentiment score of 149, beating Old Mutual on 88, Sanlam on 55, OUTsurance on 27, and Momentum on 25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company\u2019s performance was bolstered by strong financial results and positive news around its new banking operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discovery said it has entered a new phase of scaled organic growth, driven by investments in its banking and insurance businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although companies like Old Mutual, Sanlam, OUTsurance, and Momentum also received mostly positive coverage, it was not at the same level as Discovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
