Durban Girls\u2019 College (DGC) achieved exceptional matric results, which include a 100% pass rate, 100% Bachelor\u2019s Degree access, and 4.03 distinctions per candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durban Girls’ College is a prestigious, independent Christian school located on the Berea in Durban, South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durban Girls\u2019 College was founded in 1877 as the \u201cDurban Young Ladies\u2019 Evangelical Collegiate Institution\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The founders were a group of six Durban Commissioners and Protestant Clergy under the leadership of J F Churchill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1905, DGC relocated to its present site on Musgrave Road, which was donated by Sir Benjamin Greenacre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The original school building is a monument to the spirit of excellence in which the school was established.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The founders envisioned the school as an institution that would provide women with a quality education spanning across generations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It has a long-standing reputation for academic excellence and is one of the leading girls’ schools in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durban Girls\u2019 College is also an internationally accredited Thinking School, recognised by the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means they integrate specific cognitive tools into their teaching to help girls “think about their thinking.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school campus features “Innovation Hubs” focused on future-ready skills like robotics, coding, drones, and 3D printing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also highly competitive in sports, particularly aquatics and hockey. It is ranked among the top girls’ sports schools in South Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durban Girls\u2019 College achieved outstanding Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) results in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Durban Girls\u2019 College\u2019s class of 2025 achieved a 100% pass rate with 100% Bachelor\u2019s Degree access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Collectively, the cohort achieved 314 subject A symbols, with 54% of all subjects awarded at A level. Pupils averaged 4.03 distinctions per candidate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

90% of matric candidates from the school achieved overall A or B aggregates, and nearly half attained averages above 80%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Across all its subjects, DGC was, on average, 10.53% above the Independent Examinations Board national average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alaya Singh, the school\u2019s Dux, achieved eight distinctions with a 94% average and was named an IEB Outstanding Achiever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kate Steinhobel, Proxime Accessit to the Dux, achieved eight distinctions with a 92% average and was also an IEB Outstanding Achiever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rachel Deppe achieved nine distinctions with a 90% average and was recognised as an IEB Commendable Achiever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These outcomes reinforce Durban Girls\u2019 College\u2019s position as one of South Africa\u2019s leading independent schools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
