KwaZulu-Natal’s South Coast will soon welcome Kingsburgh Junction, with the new mall shopping centre set to open on 26 March 2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new retail hub, which AJ Property Holdings is developing, is set to become one of South Africa’s most significant retail and property developments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the mall already generating significant interest, it is expected to reshape the retail and residential landscape of the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As of September 2025, 90% of the space had already been pre-let, with a potent mix of anchor tenants, including a Superspar with Tops and Vida e Caf\u00e9, Woolworths, and Dis-Chem. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Other popular national retailers will include Pep, Pep Home, Ackermans and quick-service restaurants including KFC Drive-Thru and Pedro\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Legacy Real Estate stated that the selected tenant mix also reflects a high level of retailer confidence in Kingsburgh as a growth node, ensuring that the community benefits from convenient shopping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The mall is set to be a catalyst for growth in the Kingsburgh node, creating employment opportunities during construction and long-term jobs once trading starts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development also hopes to attract shoppers from surrounding areas, support local businesses and stimulate additional investment in the area. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The developer believes that the project, which is just south of Durban, will drive property values upward within the local community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The arrival of major retail hubs will also have a positive effect on the surrounding residential and commercial property markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The node also benefits from an expanding lower-income community in Baphehli, which is located directly north-west of the site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The average per-capita annual income of the area stood at R81,000 in 2020. Its resident population of roughly 31,357 generated a retail buying power potential of around R800 million. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AJ Property Development said that the broader the new development will benefit from its proximity to the region\u2019s dominant retail hub, Arbour Town. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kingsburgh Junction is situated next to Galleria Mall, Arbour Crossing (Value Centre), and Makro, and is just 4.5 km from the site. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Arbour Town operates as a super-regional shopping destination, the new mall aims to operate as a high-demand convenience retail centre, complementing the nearby Seadoone Mall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim is to meet the unmet consumer demand in the surrounding middle-income suburbs of Doonside, Doon Heights, Shulton Park, Warner Beach, and lower Amanzimtoti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The developer views the shopping centre as more than a retail destination, but also a catalyst for urban renewal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“By anchoring the area with nationally recognised brands and modern facilities, the project will position Kingsburgh as a highly desirable location for families, businesses, and investors,” said Legacy Real Estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ripple effects are expected to include increased residential demand for properties near the mall, new commercial opportunities for businesses looking to leverage the consumer base and infrastructure upgrades. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The broader South Coast<\/a> area has quickly become one of South Africa’s new semi-retirement hotspots, attracting a host of buyers from inland provinces, including Gauteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The KZN South Coast is gaining recognition for offering an affordable coastal lifestyle and easy accessibility, attracting families, retirees and investors from across the country. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the most notable drawcards are the area’s Blue Flag beaches, a warm sub-tropical climate, popular golf courses and the relaxed way of life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
