Naspers, via its majority-owned subsidiary Prosus, has sold a stake in Delivery Hero to Uber Technologies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naspers is one of South Africa’s most valuable companies, with stakes in Takealot, Media24, Property24, Mr D and AutoTrader. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also operates within a vertical company structure alongside the Dutch company Prosus, which holds the company’s international assets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Most of Naspers and Prosus’ value is tied to its stake in Chinese tech giant, Tencent, which is the world’s largest video game company and owner of WeChat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosus recently announced the takeover of online food delivery service Just Eat Takeaway. South African football fans may be familiar with the brand, as it is a Champions League Sponsor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Under the roughly R83 billion deal, the European Commission said Prosus had to reduce its shareholding in Delivery Hero, a German food delivery company.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a result, the company sold 13,582,342 ordinary shares in Delivery Hero SE to Uber Technologies, representing approximately 4.5% of Delivery Hero’s total issued share capital. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The shares are being sold at \u20ac20.00 per share, representing a premium of approximately 22% to the 1-month Volume-Weighted Average Price of Delivery Hero shares as of 16 April 2026.
The transaction will result in gross proceeds of approximately \u20ac270 million (R5.2 billion at current exchange rates).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon the sale being finalised, Prosus’s interest in Delivery Hero will decrease from 26.3% to 21.8% of the issued share capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Prosus said that it remains committed to selling the relevant portion of its stake in Delivery Hero within the required timeframe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
