DStv and Multichoice’s new parent company, CANAL+, has renewed its domestic broadcast rights agreement with the South African Rugby Union (SARU).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The renewal of the agreement will see SuperSport continue to be the only official broadcast rights holder for all SARU\u2019s domestic competitions and Springbok women\u2019s and junior age-group matches in Sub-Saharan Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to the group, this marks the first-of-its-kind agreement with a major local sports federation since CANAL+ acquired the Multichoice Group in September 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SuperSport has been a SA Rugby broadcast partner for more than 30 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CANAL+ Africa CEO, David Mignot, said the agreement will make all domestic rugby matches available exclusively on SuperSport. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In South Africa, the SuperSport channels are supplied by CANAL+ Africa to MultiChoice (Pty) Ltd, which now provides DStv to subscribers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAs promised, we are doubling down on our investment in local content, including the sports content that matters the most to people on the continent,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CANAL+ added that the partnership is a victory for DStv viewers and subscribers, who will continue to receive rugby content at world-class broadcast quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SA Rugby CEO, Rian Oberholzer said that broadcasting rights are fundamental to the health and sustainability of sport in South Africa, including rugby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The broadcast rights represent a significant investment, and helps fund development of the game in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“SuperSport has been a long-standing and trusted partner to South African Rugby and we are delighted to continue our partnership,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
