Naspers, via its international subsidiary Prosus, has sold a stake in Delivery Hero to Aspex Management for \u20ac335 million (R6.5 billion at the current exchange rate). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In August 2025, the European Commission approved Prosus’ acquisition of Just Eat Takeaway, a major food delivery player in Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, the commission said that Prosus would have to reduce its shareholding in Delivery Hero, a food delivery company headquartered in Berlin, Germany. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group already sold a 4.5% stake in Delivery Hero to Uber in April 2026, with the new sale to Aspex Management representing a further step towards fulfilling commitments to the commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The new transaction will see Prosus sell 15,188,284 ordinary shares in Delivery Hero to Aspex Management, which represents about 5% of Delivery Hero’s issued share capital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The sale price of \u20ac22.00 per share represents an around 10% premium to the closing share price and a roughly 22% premium to the 30-day volume-weighted average price as of 8 May. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The group is reducing its stake in the company from around 26% to 16% with the sales to Uber and Aspex Management. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Naspers is one of South Africa’s most valuable companies, and its local operations include Takealot, Media24, Property24, Mr D and AutoTrader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also operates within a vertical company structure alongside the Dutch company Prosus, which holds the company’s international assets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
A huge chunk of Naspers and Prosus’ value is tied to Chinese tech giant, Tencent – the world’s largest video game company and owner of WeChat.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
