Estates in the Western Cape dominated the first New World Wealth survey of Top 10 Residential Estates in South Africa, with Pearl Valley Golf & Country Estate clinching top spot.<\/p>\n

Seven of the ten top estates are in the Western Cape, with KwaZulu-Natal, Gauteng and Mpumalanga sporting a piece each.<\/p>\n

The rankings by New World Wealth, a company providing information on the global wealth sector, took into consideration value for money and resale potential; security; scenery and wildlife; quality and design of houses; home sizes; facilities (i.e spa, parks, shops, schools, restaurants and bars); and activities (i.e. golf, equestrian, walking trails and fishing).<\/p>\n

According to the survey, which has a special focus on Africa and the Middle East, Pearl Valley earned the no. 1 spot because it complied with all the criteria.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, stand sizes are relatively large and well-spaced. House prices on the estate range from R5 million to R25 million, it said of the estate which is nestled in the scenic Berg River Valley between Franschhoek and Paarl.<\/p>\n

Riana Bruyn, Pearl Valley Golf & Country Estate sales and marketing manager, told Fin24 on Wednesday the highest priced unit currently is R29.5 million.<\/p>\n

Bruyn said their residents are predominantly local, but there are good interest from the international market.<\/p>\n

Its residents’ profiles are reflective of a broad spectrum of professions, ranging from CEOs and other high level corporate role players to entrepreneurs and of course those who are passionate about golf, she said.<\/p>\n

“Our research shows that our state-of-the-art security combined with our close proximity to various top schools and picturesque setting in the Cape Winelands, remain the main motivation for families to choose Pearl Valley.<\/p>\n

“We strive to be the leading residential estate in Southern Africa and the award recognises that we to a large extent achieved our vision.<\/p>\n

“Over the past years we consistently received accolades for our Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course, but being recognised as the top residential estate, underscores the fact that Pearl Valley is a world class residential estate offering a unique lifestyle experience,” she said.<\/p>\n

According to New World Wealth Blair Athol (Gauteng) and Steenberg (Western Cape) just missed the list, while Steyn City was excluded from the study as it is still being developed and it is difficult to currently gauge the viability of the project.<\/p>\n
