EduFund is managed by Old Mutual Alternative Investments (OMAI). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school group was founded in 2016 following a partnership between entrepreneur Jevron Epstein and Trematon, and goes beyond traditional teaching methods. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since its foundation, the school group has grown massively, opening five locations in the Western Cape and one in Gauteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the last decade, the school group has grown massively, opening five locations in the Western Cape and one in Gauteng. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The school previously said that the sale represents more than a change in shareholding and creates an opportunity to accelerate the school\u2019s mission of delivering high-quality education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Central to the rationale is Generation Trade Schools, the group\u2019s vocational and skills pathway offering that aims to address critical shortages in technical and artisanal skills in the local economy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cOur responsibility is not simply to educate students, it is to help shape young people who can contribute meaningfully to their communities and the broader economy,\u201d said Generation Schools CEO Jevron Epstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cEducation must become increasingly connected to real-world outcomes,&#8221; said Generation Schools CEO Jevron Epstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;EduFund and OMAI share that conviction, and this partnership gives us the long-term capital and expertise to accelerate that work at scale.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In its growth strategy, the group will scale Generation Trade Schools and vocational pathways to address critical skills gaps and provide affordable schooling in underserved communities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It also wants to expand South African curriculum-based schools designed to serve local families while maintaining high academic standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deal will also see the existing Generation management team continuing to lead the business. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Did not meet expectations <\/h2>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-863424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2-1536x864.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/generation-schools-2.jpeg 1600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Trematon said that the sale of the Generation Group comes after the group did not meet its early growth expectations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite Generation&#8217;s potential, Trematon said it will take several years to fully realise it.
