Saul Saltzman, the son of Dis-Chem founders Ivan and Lynette Saltzman, has resigned from the healthcare retailer’s board. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saul Saltzman has resigned from the Dis-Chem board, joining a growing host of changes for the JSE-listed retailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saul initially resigned as an executive director on 27 February 2026, having served in the role for 19 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he has now informed the board of his decision to resign as a Non-Executive Director, effective 17 July 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The board expressed its appreciation to Saul for his contributions, commitment, and dedicated service to the company over many years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Saul’s resignation from the board joins a long list of executive changes at the JSE-listed retailer, with his father also resigning as executive director on 30 June. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ivan is still serving on the JSE-retailer’s board since his resignation as an executive director. He stepped down as CEO in 2023, with then-CFO Rui Morias taking over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Lynette also stepped down as executive director in 2022 to focus on an operational role within the retailer\u2019s beauty category. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In June 2025, the founders’ other sons, Dan and Mark Saltzman, also inherited billions of company shares as part of a larger restructuring of the Saltzmans’ wealth. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dan and Mark then sold shares worth around R320 million between January and February of this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite his large stake, Dis-Chem has distanced itself from Mark due to now-deleted tweets, for which he has been accused of racism and sexism. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Saltzmans are one of the richest families in South Africa, with Bloomberg estimating their wealth at $1.3 billion. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Outside of the Saltzman family, Stanley Goetsch, who had been at the company for 42 years, also retired as an executive director on 30 June 2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
