class=\"wp-block-heading\">Meet One of the People Behind the NSPCA Badge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For Senior Inspector Arno de Klerk, Manager of the NSPCA\u2019s Special Projects Unit, protecting animals has been an 18-year commitment in making sure laws are enforced where they\u2019re needed most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the past 12 years with the NSPCA, De Klerk has led investigations into some of the country\u2019s most complex animal welfare cases. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His team\u2019s work includes inspecting security dog facilities and working horses, monitoring live animal transport at ports, enforcing racing regulations, investigating organised animal crime, and pursuing criminal prosecutions against offenders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At any given time, the unit manages more than 50 active criminal cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the demanding nature of the work, De Klerk says it\u2019s the dedication of his colleagues that keeps him motivated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe Special Projects Unit is my greatest source of motivation,\u201d he explains. \u201cWe each bring different expertise to the table, and together we\u2019ve completed successful investigations that have made a real difference.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One rescue, however, remains especially close to his heart.
