CareerJunction has released its latest CareerJunction Index (CJI) update, showing which jobs are most in demand in South Africa.<\/p>\n

According to CJ, the April Index is positioned below the 100 mark at 96.55, indicating easing recruitment conditions. This comes after a 4% decrease in job advertising, the jobs portal said.<\/p>\n

While April saw a slight drop in new jobs, there has been a steady overall upward trend during 2015. Overall, demand is considerably higher year-on-year.<\/p>\n

A slight decrease in job advertising during April means a slightly more competitive environment for job seekers.<\/p>\n

The Retail, Manufacturing, Admin and Engineering industries are exceptions to this rule, however.<\/p>\n

Since January, new jobs have increased by between 20-30% within the Retail and Manufacturing industries while the Admin industry, job ad volumes doubled.<\/p>\n

Year-on-year, the Engineering industry saw an increase in job advertising of 40%. The Telecommunication sector on the other hand has seen a drop in hiring activity during the last running quarter. Since January, demand is down by 10%,” the group said.<\/p>\n

Demand within the IT industry remains steady, with year-on-year data showing that hiring activity has picked up by 9%.<\/p>\n
