The Park Hyatt in Rosebank is a 5-star luxury hotel voted as the best new hotel in both the country and the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel opened in 2025 as Hyatt’s most recent expansion in South Africa, bringing the group to three sites in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Chicago-based hotel company has a global presence in the luxury hotel market, with its South African offerings situated in Cape Town, Sandton, and Rosebank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recently, the World Travel Awards (WTA) named the Park Hyatt as the leading new hotel in Africa for 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The accolade fits the hotel’s luxury offerings, which include an on-site spa and four distinct restaurants and bars for its patrons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to its WTA award, Park Hyatt has received several accolades, including a one-key distinction from the Michelin Travel Guide in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel was also named in Time Magazine’s list of the world’s greatest places in 2026 and received a Traveller Review Award from Booking.com in the same year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While Hyatt already had a presence in South Africa before 2025, the company touts its Rosebank site as “South Africa’s first luxury Hyatt hotel” on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel has 31 rooms, with rates ranging from approximately R6,000 to R13,000 for one person per night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Discerning travellers encounter Johannesburg through a lens of quiet elegance and cultural depth,” the company said on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel also boasts valet parking, meeting facilities and a pool for its patrons, along with specific offerings for conferences and events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Park Hyatt’s buildings were originally constructed in the 1930s as a colonial mansion, reflecting the influence of Sir Herbert Baker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The hotel is built around a central courtyard, with a large Jacaranda tree, a heated pool and several sculptures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire hotel serves as an art gallery, featuring curated artworks and sculptures on every floor, with site-specific themes in each area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When including the Park Hyatt in its list of the world’s greatest places of 2026, Time Magazine described it as “a level of boutique service still rare in the city.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Though there\u2019s a big brand behind it, the boutique property doesn\u2019t lack personality,” the magazine said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Michelin Guide said the hotel had given new life to the former residential property in Rosebank, which it described as one of the most walkable areas in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Rooms are lavish in size, with high ceilings, deep marble tubs, and a smart mix of local textiles and vintage-style illustrations,” it said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some rooms also feature private patios, while all 31 rooms have king-sized beds and floor-to-ceiling windows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Park Hyatt’s premier restaurant, Room 32, offers a premium dining experience for the hotel’s patrons and visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Room 32 offers an elegant, contemporary atmosphere inspired by Johannesburg\u2019s rich heritage,” Park Hyatt described on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The welcoming setting, minimalist interiors, and curated local art make Room 32 an ideal space for both intimate gatherings and special celebrations.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Chefs turn out open-fire dishes alongside an extensive list of South African wines,” the Michelin Guide said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The restaurant sources a large part of its wine list from the Western Cape, and has a sommelier working full-time on the property.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to its traditional menus, the restaurant hosts speciality dining experiences such as high tea, which costs between R750 and R1,395 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Room 32 also offers a confidential business lunch for R630 per person and a four-course brunch menu for R1,595.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All of the speciality menus offer multiple courses and are paired with complimentary drinks, such as wine from Journey’s End Vineyards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
