{"id":87494,"date":"2015-05-18T08:07:52","date_gmt":"2015-05-18T06:07:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=87494"},"modified":"2015-05-20T08:28:25","modified_gmt":"2015-05-20T06:28:25","slug":"south-africa-eyes-legalised-drones","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/hardware\/87494\/south-africa-eyes-legalised-drones\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa eyes legalised drones"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Director of the SA Civil Aviation Authority announced on 17 May\u00a0that South Africa will introduce new regulations to\u00a0help regulate remotely piloted aircraft systems, popularly known as drones.<\/p>\n<p>These regulations were\u00a0recently signed by the Minister of Transport Dipuo Peters, and will be published and implementable by 1 July 2015.<\/p>\n<p>The long-awaited regulations are expected to encourage drone development, with huge potential benefits for the security industry.<\/p>\n<p>The rating by the International Civil Aviation Organisation for South Africa is above the 80 percent world average.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the record we do not wish to compromise.
