Huawei has announced the appointment of Charlene Munilall as the new general manager for the Huawei Consumer Business Group SA.<\/p>\n
Her new post began officially in May 2015.<\/p>\n
Munilall previously worked for multinational ICT brands across Africa inluding managing and directing sales for Nokia in sub-Sahara Africa, as well as heading various Samsung African telecommunications and product management teams.<\/p>\n
Prior to joining Huawei\u2019s consumer business group, Munilall was sales director for Lenovo\u2019s Africa operations.<\/p>\n
“Her grounding in sound accounting and financial management through her accounting degree (Cum Laude) from the University of Durban Westville has been supplemented by her years in the industry,” Huawei said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI believe there is a huge gap in the industry with the lack of women. There are far too few women currently, and I saw this as a great opportunity to grow and showcase my capabilities.”<\/p>\n
“There is a space for corporate companies to create programmes that will assist in the growth and career development of women within the technology space,\u201d Munilall said.<\/p>\n
