One of South Africa’s privately owned commercial passenger airlines, Airlink, has announced new direct flights between Cape Town Airport and Johannesburg’s Lanseria Airport, starting on 4 December 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline said that this new flight route will help people travelling to and from Johannesburg avoid the congestion at the city’s main airport, OR Tambo International Airport.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lanseria Airport is a privately owned international airport located north of Randburg and Sandton in the northwest of Johannesburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cTravel options on this route have been limited, and our intention is to give passengers a comfortable and enjoyable alternative for travelling between the two regions, while also complementing our existing services to O.R. Tambo,\u201d said Airlink CEO, de Villiers Engelbrecht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This new route will be Airlink’s first scheduled domestic service to Lanseria. It will be operated by an Embraer E190 aircraft, accommodating 98 passengers at a time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The passengers will all be seated at window and aisle seats as there are no middle seats on Airlink flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight schedule between Cape Town (CPT) and Lanseria (HLA) will operate as follows, effective 4 December 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airlink said it will increase these frequencies to four daily return flights, effective from 27 March 2027, and the updated schedule will be published closer to the launch date.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Airlink launches flight route to Zimbabwe<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In August 2026, Airlink announced new weekly flights from Lanseria to Harare, Zimbabwe, becoming one of four South African airlines operating flights to Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flights are expected to commence on 15 November 2026, and will be operated by an Embraer E190 aircraft that can accommodate 6 Business Class and 92 Economy passengers, for a total of 98 passengers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with all other Airlink flights, only window and aisle seats will be available, as there are no middle seats on any Airlink flights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJohannesburg-Harare is one of the busiest routes in Southern Africa and saw demand averaging around 60,000 seats a month in 2025,\u201d said Airlink CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA significant percentage of this market comprises people within Lanseria\u2019s catchment area, and Airlink is able to better serve these customers by augmenting our existing services (which operate out of OR Tambo), with the new Lanseria flights.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airline said that Airlink customers on board will receive complimentary meals and refreshments, nd that the configuration of the cabin allows for \u201cgenerous\u201d leg-room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Flights on the route will operate on these days and at these times from 15 November 2026:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
