Cell C said it is concerned that four days since the approval of the Vodacom-Neotel transaction, the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa has not published its decision, nor explained it.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith the exception of comments attributed to the outgoing chairman, Dr. Stephen Mncube in a news report, Icasa has remained mum on the approval of this transaction,\u201d said Cell C.<\/p>\n
There has also been no mention of the ownership and transfer of Neotel\u2019s spectrum, which Cell C said was the most contentious issue raised by industry stakeholders.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe only confirmation Cell C has received to date is in the form of a letter from Neotel informing Cell C of Icasa\u2019s approval and the \u2018short public consultation\u2019 that is pending on the conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cell C said it has written to the authority seeking confirmation and an explanation of its decision.<\/p>\n
The mobile operator reiterated it is steadfast in its opposition to the merger, and warned that it will use all legal avenues to prevent it.<\/p>\n
