Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance has slammed the gazetted e-toll tariff dispensation, saying that there have been no meaningful changes at all.<\/p>\n
“Cutting through the amendments…one detects that no meaningful change has been made,” said Outa chairman, Wayne Duvenage.<\/p>\n
“The scheme remains administratively cumbersome, and the alternative rate is still grossly punitive at 300% higher than the e-tag rate.”<\/p>\n
Duvenage noted that non-registered users would have to pay within 7 days to get the 30c per km rate (which has not changed at all) – something which is “practically impossible”, due to the ineffective postal system.<\/p>\n
\u201cSanral has simply painted a new coat over the same rusty broken vehicle and tried to sell it as a new car,” said Duvenage.<\/p>\n
“The public are being taken for fools by this attempted morass of smoke and mirrors.\u201d<\/p>\n
