There will be no load shedding for most of Saturday as there is currently enough electricity generating capacity to meet demand\u201a Eskom says.<\/p>\n
However\u201a the power utility warned that there is a possibility that stage 1 load shedding might be implemented during the evening peak period\u201a from 5pm to 9pm\u201a mainly as a result of increased electricity demand.<\/p>\n
It also announced that load shedding will be implemented for most of the day on Sunday\u201a as the power utility will be using the day to build up its reserves in order to prepare for the week ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs we are currently experiencing cold weather conditions across the country as a result of the cold front\u201a we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping warm\u201a\u201d Eskom urged.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn winter the electricity demand peaks in the morning and evening as more electricity is used during these times. We appeal to all our customers to continue to reduce their electricity usage throughout the day but to be aware of the need to save more during the peak periods from 06:00 to 10:00 and 17:00 to 21:00.<\/p>\n
\u201cCommercial customers\u201a particularly shopping centres and office blocks\u201a can also make a big difference by switching off non-essential lights and not leaving office equipment such as photocopiers and computers in standby mode after hours\u201a\u201d the power utility added.<\/p>\n
