Joburg\u2019s former electricity boss is the new special advisor on energy to President Jacob Zuma.<\/p>\n
The Presidency made the announcement of the appointment of Silas Mzingeli Zimu in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe welcome Zimu to the Presidency and we are certain that his considerable experience and expertise in matters of energy will greatly contribute to the work being done to mitigate and resolve the energy challenge\u201a\u201d said the director-general in the Presidency\u201a Dr Cassius Lubisi.<\/p>\n
The statement said Zimu was \u201can electrical engineer by qualifications and training\u201d\u201a and \u201chas previously served at among other institutions\u201a Eskom as an engineer and different management positions; and Johannesburg City Power as managing director\u201d.<\/p>\n
Zimu was most recently appointed CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy South Africa in November 2010.<\/p>\n
