{"id":92494,"date":"2015-07-06T14:20:59","date_gmt":"2015-07-06T12:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=92494"},"modified":"2015-07-06T14:26:15","modified_gmt":"2015-07-06T12:26:15","slug":"mtn-sa-ceo-steps-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/92494\/mtn-sa-ceo-steps-down\/","title":{"rendered":"MTN SA CEO steps down"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN Group has announced the resignation of Ahmad Farroukh, CEO of MTN South Africa, which is effective 31 July 2015.<\/p>\n<p>This means that Farroukh would have held his position for exactly one year, having replaced Zunaid Bulbulia at the end of July 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a difficult decision to take for Ahmad, but unavoidable due to personal and family reasons,\u201d said MTN Group President and CEO, Sifiso Dabengwa.<\/p>\n<p>MTN&#8217;s local operations have come under intense pressure in recent months amid violent strike action which has disrupted services, which the group admitted has been costly.<\/p>\n<p>Farroukh joined MTN in 2006, with the acquisition of Investcom. He has fulfilled several roles during his tenure with the Group.<\/p>\n<p>Farroukh is a former CEO of MTN Nigeria, and served in a similar role at MTN Ghana.
