Former MTN South Africa head Ahmad Farroukh has been named CEO of Saudi telecom operator, Etihad Etisalat Company (Mobily).<\/p>\n

Farroukh announced in early July that he will stepping down as the MTN SA lead at the end of the month – one year after taking up the position, having replaced Zunaid Bulbulia at the end of July 2014.<\/p>\n

The group cited “personal and family reasons” for his departure..<\/p>\n

Farroukh joined MTN in 2006, with the acquisition of Investcom. He has fulfilled several roles during his tenure with the Group.<\/p>\n

He\u00a0is a former CEO of MTN Nigeria, and served in a similar role at MTN Ghana. Before assuming the role of Group Chief Operating Executive, he was vice-president of the West and Central Africa (WECA) region.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the new appointment, Mobily said that is has appointed an executive team to “focus on the future and strategic growth areas within the organization”.<\/p>\n

Farroukh’s resignation as MTN SA is effective from 31 July 2015.<\/p>\n
