Vox Telecom has announced the acquisition of Internet services company Frogfoot Networks.<\/p>\n
The acquisition will see Vox Telecom fast-tracking its fibre strategy by leveraging the installed fibre network of Frogfoot Networks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen we started the roll-out of our own fibre network, we knew it was critical to be as aggressive as we could to capitalise on the market opportunity,\u201d said Abraham van der Merwe of Frogfoot Networks.<\/p>\n
\u201cHowever, we were always aware that at some point, we would need to find a larger company to partner with. Vox Telecom was a natural choice for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jacques du Toit, CEO of Vox Telecom, said customers are tired of best-effort services like ADSL and contended wireless infrastructure.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis coupled with increasingly bandwidth-demanding applications, and a more mature market, makes fibre the number one last mile access medium,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Frogfoot Networks will operate as a separate entity within Vox Telecom\u2019s carrier and connectivity division \u2013 providing services to the group\u2019s customers, in addition to wholesale services to the market.<\/p>\n
\u201cBy operating as a separate entity, we are creating and enabling open access play, which we believe is critical for the future of the business,\u201d said Vox Telecom.<\/p>\n
