Irrespective of what Parliament says, President Jacob Zuma could still end up paying millions for his Nkandla homestead, a report said on Friday.<\/p>\n
A presidential proclamation, the need to protect state resources and a pending decision by the high court means Zuma could end up paying at least R11.1m, reported the Mail & Guardian newspaper.<\/p>\n
Aside from Public Protector Thuli Madonsela finding that the president should pay an unspecified figure, the Special Investigating Unit found that Zuma should pay R4m for air-conditioning in the private residences, R4.5m for two roads for the use of Zuma\u2019s family and R3.3m for landscaping.<\/p>\n
Police Minister Nathi Nhleko stated in his report Zuma wasn\u2019t liable to pay any money.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, a proposal by opposition parties to call Madonsela to appear before Parliament\u2019s Nkandla ad hoc committee was voted against by ANC MPs on Thursday, News24 reported.<\/p>\n
Last week, ANC MP Thandi Mahambehlala attacked Madonsela\u2019s report, saying that it was misleading.<\/p>\n
