service\u2019s catalogue.<\/p>\n<p>News of the pricing of the Netflix competitor from Naspers, which is set to launch on 19 August, comes after a details of the service <a title=\"ShowMax: free video streaming from Naspers\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/135092-showmax-free-video-streaming-from-naspers.html\"><strong>leaked online<\/strong><\/a> through Google\u2019s web cache.<\/p>\n<p>Sources\u00a0had previously told MyBroadband that <a title=\"Naspers Netflix competitor launching in South Africa\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/134752-naspers-netflix-competitor-launching-in-south-africa.html\"><strong>Naspers was getting ready to launch a subscription video on demand service<\/strong><\/a> with the aim of beating Netflix to market in developing economies.<\/p>\n<p>Information from cached web pages at showmax.com, which is registered to Naspers subsidiary MIH in Hong Kong, suggested that the service will be available in two tiers: free and paid-for.<\/p>\n<p>ShowMax Basic will offer access to a limited selection of content for free, while ShowMax Premium will give subscribers access to the service\u2019s full library.<\/p>\n<p>A free 7-day trial to ShowMax Premium will be available.<\/p>\n<p>Up to five different devices can be linked to a ShowMax account, and ShowMax Premium will let you stream from two devices simultaneously.<\/p>\n<p>The following devices will be supported at launch:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Web browsers on personal computers<\/li>\n<li>iPhone and iPads running iOS 7 or higher<\/li>\n<li>Android phones and tablets running Android 4.1.0 or higher<\/li>\n<li>Samsung Smart TVs (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015)<\/li>\n<li>Samsung Tizen Smart TVs (2015)<\/li>\n<li>LG NetCast Smart TVs (2012, 2013, 2014)<\/li>\n<li>LG WebOS Smart TVs (2014, 2015)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some of the content the cached pages indicated would be available on ShowMax includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Arrow<\/li>\n<li>Big Bang Theory<\/li>\n<li>Castle<\/li>\n<li>Elementary<\/li>\n<li>Ray Donovan<\/li>\n<li>Vikings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Local productions such as Egoli, Binnelanders, Orkney Snork Nie, Msawa, and Ballade vir \u2019n Enkeling also look set to be available on ShowMax in South
