The ANC is planning a complete overhaul of the state, which may see some provinces disappearing, and more power vested in municipalities. This is according to a report in The Sunday Independent.<\/p>\n
The report further stated that the ANC may look at lifestyle audits for all senior civil servants, and better vetting of all strategically placed civil servants.<\/p>\n
This report follows the ANC\u2019s lekgotla last month, after which a discussion document with these suggestions was produced and sent to the party\u2019s provincial structures.<\/p>\n
In a related report, ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe conceded that little progress has been made on unemployment, poverty and inequality.<\/p>\n
He suggested a focus on issues like land reform, the creation of a state-owned mining company, an investigation into mineral trading, and speeding up broadband rollout.<\/p>\n
