Telkom has approved 689 voluntary severance package applications, with most of the employees leaving between 31 August 2015 and 31 March 2016.<\/p>\n
This is according to a well-placed source, who said that of the 689 packages which were approved by Telkom, 330 employees are going on early retirement.<\/p>\n
This follows the departure of 2,393 employees on 31 July, and forms part of Telkom\u2019s restructuring plans.<\/p>\n
The average age of the 689 employees who will leave the company is 47 years, and the group consists of 549 males and 140 females.<\/p>\n
The majority of the people who applied for these packages are African (347), followed by white (191), coloured (97), and Indian (54) employees.<\/p>\n
The total years of service at Telkom which will be lost by the latest departure of employees comes to 15,626.<\/p>\n
Telkom could not immediately provide comment on the matter.<\/p>\n
