Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko has announced ambitious targets for the company\u2019s fibre-to-the-home roll-out \u2013 aiming to have a million homes connected within the next three years.<\/p>\n
Maseko, speaking at the Satnac 2015 conference held in Hermanus, said Telkom will double its investment in FTTH and fibre-to-the-business to achieve these targets.<\/p>\n
The launch of Telkom\u2019s FTTH followed the roll-out of multi-service access nodes in 2012, with the first FTTH services coming online at the end of 2013.<\/p>\n
As of August 2015, there were 38,000 homes on Telkom\u2019s FTTH network, said Maseko. By the end of 2015, they aim to have 70,000 FTTH-enabled homes.<\/p>\n
Maseko said that by March 2016, they plan to serve 150,000 homes with fibre, expanding to 400,000 homes in 2017.<\/p>\n
