{"id":98469,"date":"2015-09-15T15:00:29","date_gmt":"2015-09-15T13:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=98469"},"modified":"2015-09-15T15:01:59","modified_gmt":"2015-09-15T13:01:59","slug":"south-africas-most-valuable-brands-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/98469\/south-africas-most-valuable-brands-2\/","title":{"rendered":"South Africa&#8217;s most valuable brands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Banks and mobile operators feature predominantly among the top rated brands in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Brand South Africa and Brand Finance Africa published a third annual study of the Top 50 corporate brands in the country, which are valued at approximately R1.5 trillion.<\/p>\n<p>MTN retained its leading position as the most valuable brand in the country, followed by Vodacom and Sasol.<\/p>\n<p>Woolworths and FNB were also among the top performers for the 2014\/15 year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Significantly, an analysis of the top 10 corporate brands is that nine of these operate in knowledge intensive sectors \u2013 in the telecommunications, banking and oil and gas sectors,&#8221; the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Brand Finance calculates brand value using the Royalty Relief approach. This approach involves estimating the likely future sales that are attributable to a brand and calculating a royalty rate that would be charged for the use of the brand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3 with Nokia (8th) and MTN (20th) two of the\u00a0most popular tech products in\u00a0South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Huletts Sugar came second, All Gold Tomato sauce third, Coca Cola fourth, and McCain Frozen
