{"id":98585,"date":"2015-09-16T12:01:54","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T10:01:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=98585"},"modified":"2015-09-16T12:31:16","modified_gmt":"2015-09-16T10:31:16","slug":"ontaptv-to-challenge-showmax-and-netflix-in-sa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/98585\/ontaptv-to-challenge-showmax-and-netflix-in-sa\/","title":{"rendered":"ONTAPtv to challenge ShowMax and Netflix in SA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PCCW Global will offer its\u00a0ONTAPtv.com VOD service in South Africa from R39 per month.<\/p>\n<p>ONTAPtv.com will compete against a number of VOD players which have already launched in South Africa, including ShowMax, Vidi, and MTN FrontRow.<\/p>\n<p>Netflix has also confirmed its plans to launch in South Africa before the end of 2016.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Pricing<\/h3>\n<p>ONTAPtv.com said it will offer a la carte packaging, allowing subscribers to sign up for a subset of content if they choose.<\/p>\n<p>The core packages are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Family Package: <strong>R69 per month<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 suitable for under 16s<\/li>\n<li>TV Series Package: <strong>R69 per month<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 only TV series<\/li>\n<li>Movie Package: <strong>R69 per month<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 only movies<\/li>\n<li>Mega pack: <strong>R89 per month<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 includes all of the above packages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ONTAPtv.com will also offer special packages called African On Tap, a Chinese Package for mandarin speakers, and Fight Sports from CSI.
