{"id":9873,"date":"2012-04-16T00:32:02","date_gmt":"2012-04-15T22:32:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=9873"},"modified":"2013-04-12T11:20:48","modified_gmt":"2013-04-12T09:20:48","slug":"shocking-new-e-toll-rate-outa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/9873\/shocking-new-e-toll-rate-outa\/","title":{"rendered":"Shocking new e-toll rate: OUTA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In a statement issued on Sunday (15 April 2012), the <a title=\"OUTA - Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1949-OUTA-Opposition-to-Urban-Tolling-Alliance\">Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (OUTA)<\/a> spoke out strongly against newly published e-toll tariffs, which it said would see Gauteng freeway users not registered with <a title=\"SANRAL - South African National Roads Association Limited\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1722-SANRAL-South-African-National-Roads-Association-Limited\">SANRAL<\/a> paying fees six times higher than those with tagged vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>New tariffs published in the Government Gazette by the Department of Transport specifies a category of road user termed \u201calternate user\u201d that will pay R1.74\/km when travelling the tolled freeways in a normal car.<\/p>\n<p>Previously the highest rate for light vehicles was R0.58\/km when travelling without an e-tag.
