{"id":9884,"date":"2012-04-16T08:14:16","date_gmt":"2012-04-16T06:14:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=9884"},"modified":"2012-04-16T14:06:57","modified_gmt":"2012-04-16T12:06:57","slug":"google-hit-with-r200-000-fine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/9884\/google-hit-with-r200-000-fine\/","title":{"rendered":"Google hit with R200 000 fine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Google Inc\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1719-Google\">Google Inc<\/a> has been fined $25,000 (R200 000) for impeding a U.S. investigation into the Web search leader&#8217;s data collection for its Street View project, which allows users to see street level images when they map a location.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"FCC - Federal Communications Commission\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/380963-FCC-Federal-Communications-Commission\">Federal Communications Commission<\/a> imposed the fine late on Friday, saying Google had collected personal information without permission and had then deliberately not cooperated with the FCC&#8217;s investigation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Google refused to identify any employees or produce any e-mails.
