President Jacob Zuma has stunned with a late-night cabinet reshuffle\u201a moving Ngoako Ramatlhodi from mineral resources to public service and administration.<\/p>\n
He has appointed relatively unknown Free State MP\u201a Mosebenzi Zwane\u201a to replace Ramathlodi in the powerful portfolio.<\/p>\n
Ramathlodi has presided over a sharp decline in South African mining as commodity prices have been hammered by slowing down of the Chinese economy.<\/p>\n
The position he fills was left vacant by the \u201ctragic and untimely demise of\u2026Collins Chabane\u201d\u201a who died in the early hours of March 15 this year when the car he was travelling in collided with a truck made on the N1 near Polokwane.<\/p>\n
Arts and culture minister Nathi Mthethwa has been the acting head of the public service and administration ministry since March then.<\/p>\n
Zwane was provincial MEC for economic\u201a small business development\u201a tourism and environmental affairs.<\/p>\n
Zwane will be sworn in on Heritage Day at the Union Buildings in Pretoria.<\/p>\n
