{"id":99392,"date":"2015-09-25T13:58:37","date_gmt":"2015-09-25T11:58:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=99392"},"modified":"2015-09-25T14:07:13","modified_gmt":"2015-09-25T12:07:13","slug":"dimension-data-takes-title-sponsorship-from-mtn-qhubeka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/99392\/dimension-data-takes-title-sponsorship-from-mtn-qhubeka\/","title":{"rendered":"Dimension Data takes title sponsorship from MTN-Qhubeka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dimension Data will become the new title partner of Ryder Cycling, which owns &amp; manages Team MTN-Qhubeka.<\/p>\n<p>Citing tough market conditions, mobile giant MTN confirmed in July, its withdrawal as headline sponsor of the MTN-Qhubeka cycling team.<\/p>\n<p>MTN said it had spent in the region of R100 million on the team since 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Effective 1 January 2016, the team\u2019s new name will Team Dimension Data.<\/p>\n<p>The team made history this year as the first African team to compete in the Tour de France alongside five other wild-card teams.<\/p>\n<p>Team MTN-Qhubeka achieved numerous successes including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wearing the prestigious King of the Mountain jersey for four days on the shoulders of Eritrean rider, Daniel Teklehaimanot.<\/li>\n<li>Team finishing in fifth place overall in the Team competition out of a total of 22 teams<\/li>\n<li>Stephen Cummings winning the 14th stage on Mandela Day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Douglas Ryder, Team Principal said: \u201cWe are incredibly excited to have Dimension Data become our new title partner.
