That is a huge load for the 480 department offices that provide various services to millions of citizens countrywide,” Gigaba said.

More on Smart IDs

SA smart ID bank pilot launching soon

When and where you can get your smart IDs from SA banks

Get your smart ID and passport at the bank

Over one million smart IDs issued

The Department of Home Affairs says it is ready to pilot a project that will allow customers to walk into their nearest bank to apply for a smart ID card.

[1
29,1798,76,26,2524,1799,499
post-99724","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-trending","tag-absa","tag-capitec","tag-fnb","tag-headline","tag-home-affairs","tag-nedbank","tag-standard-bank
["GET
