Watch: Lexus makes full-size electric car out of cardboard

 ·8 Oct 2015

Lexus has an origami car, which is a life-size replica of the new IS saloon crafted from 1,700 recyclable laser-cut cardboard sheets.

The Lexus origami car was created as a “celebration of the skills of Lexus’s takumi craftsmen, capturing the spirit of creating amazing in design and engineering”.

“The Origami Car has a fully-fitted interior, functioning doors, headlights, and rolling wheels,” the company said.

The origami car is powered by an electric motor, and can be driven like a normal electric vehicle.

The car will be on show at the Grand Designs Live Show at the NEC in Birmingham from 8 October.
