Apple made R14 billion in profit every week in 2015
Tech giant Apple has recorded the largest profit in corporate history, raking in over $1 billion (R13.7 billion) a week for its 2015 financial year.
The iPhone maker – the world’s biggest company – record sales of its smartphone – 48 million sold in the last quarter alone – pushed profits to $53.4 billion (R730.7 billion) over the past year.
This surpasses the previous record holder, energy company ExxonMobil, which recorded $45.2 billion (R618.5 billion) in profit in 2008. Adjusted for inflation, that’s $50.1 billion (R685.6 billion).
iPhone sales pushed profits up by 31% in the fourth quarter, the company said, while its full year revenues were pushing towards a quarter of a trillion dollars – $233.7 billion (R3.2 trillion).
Apple made approximately $4.5 billion (R61.6 billion) in revenue per week – $1 billion (R13.7 billion) of which was pure profit.
