The best flight, travel and accomodation Black Friday 2017 deals in South Africa
While South Africans prepare for a day of awesome in-store Black Friday deals, they should also keep an eye out for a number of airline and travel deals.
Ahead of the big day BusinessTech spoke to some of South Africa’s biggest travel companies and airlines to see what deals they have on offer.
STA Travel
STA travel have confirmed that it will be hosting a Black Friday “Blue Sale”, with deals available until Monday, 27 November.
Some of the specials on offer include:
- Up to 50% off worldwide accommodation – including hotel accomodation in Asia, Latin America, USA, Australia, Africa, and Europe.
- Up to 30% off worldwide accommodation on airlines including Emirates, Qatar and Qantus.
- Up to 20% off group adventure tours.

South African Airways
SAA has already published its Black Friday deals for 2017 with a number of international and local routes on offer.
Some of the deals include:
- Johannesburg and Durban (one way) – R707
- Johannesburg and Cape Town (one way) – R867
- Johannesburg and Perth (return, economy) – R10,490
- Johannesburg and Hong Kong (return, economy) – R8,770
- Cape Town and Paris (return, economy) – R10,020
- Durban and Zurich (return, economy) – R9,287
The sales are available for 72 hours only and will only be valid from 24 November 2017 till 26 November 2017.

Travelstart
Travelstart has confirmed that it will be running Black Friday deals throughout the weekend.
Some of the deals include:
- Domestic flights from R299
- Mauritius from R3,999
- India from R3,999
- Portugal from R4,999

Busabout has announced that it will be Black Friday shoppers looking to do some group-based travelling.
Some of the deals include:
- Iberian Adventure (was R8,990 and now R4,495) + 12-Stop Pass (R13,995) = R18,485
- Oktoberfest with Hostel accommodation (was R7,480 and now R3,740) + 12-Stop Pass (R13,995) = R17,730

Uniworld
Uniworld has confirmed that it will be offering up to 30% cruises as part of its Black Friday deals.
Prices are per person sharing and include accommodation, all meals and unlimited beverages on board, personalised excursions, all gratuities, ship-wide Wi-Fi and Internet access and the onboard entertainment and Signature Lectures.
Some of the deals include:
- “Remarkable Rhine” including a 9-day cruise from Basel to Amsterdam – R29,330 (save R12,570 pp).
- “Paris and Normandy” including a 8-day cruise from Paris to Paris – R29,330 (save R12,570 pp).
- “Enchanting Danube and Munich” including a 10-day cruise from Munich to Budapest – R33,530 (save R14,370 pp).
Trafalgar
Trafalgar has announced that it will be offering a special Black Friday for group bookings
Get a group of six like-minded travelers together and book any of Trafalgar’s 2018 Europe & Britain trips (there are 95 to choose from) and the sixth person will travel for free.
To take advantage of the deal, you need to pay a R3000 deposit per person by 27 November with the balance due by 30 December 2017.

For budget-conscious Black Friday shoppers, CostSaver has announced that it will be offering a number of cheaper deals.
These include tours of Europe, Britain, USA or Canada from R1,291 per person per day, as well as special discounts for group travellers.

IGO Travel have confirmed that it will a number of travel packages on Black Friday.
Some of the deals include:

Wild has announced that 24 November 2017 will be “Green Friday”.
On the day you will be able to buy or renew membership your Wild Card membership at a discounted rate. In addition, Wild has promised that a number of other deals will be on offer on the day.

Contiki has published its Black Friday deals, with travelers able to save up to 30% on their trips through the group.
A wide range of trips are on offer to locations including Europe, South America, and Asia.

Flight Factory has confirmed that it will be offering a number of local and international flights at a fraction of the normal cost.

Thompsons Holidays has confirmed that it will have a number of Black Friday deals including packaged trips including flights, accommodation and cruises.
It also confirmed that it will be offering a number of local deals for those looking to travel in-country.

Cape Nature has announced that its Black Friday deals will go live at the stroke of midnight.
A number of deals will be available, including a number of discounts on accommodation in and around the Cape region.

Shoppers looking to take high quality photos on their travels can also pick up a number of deals on cameras, lenses and accessories from Outdoorphoto on Black Friday.
Outdoorphoto said that it plans to offer free delivery on orders in South Africa over R1 000 and all orders are shipped on 24 November 2017.
Some of the deals include:
- GoPro HERO5 Black Camera + free goods to the value of R1,800.
- Evoc Photop 16 L Backpack (Slate Heather) at 10% off + free goods to the value of R1,200.
- R5,500 off of the DJI Mavic Pro Fly drone.

Bidvest Car Rental has announced that it will be having a “Blue Friday” deal for one day only.
The deal which is valid only on 24 November 2017 from 00h01 to 23h59 will allow you to rent certain Group A ,B and C vehicles from as little as R155 a day.
