Cell C has partnered with ISP Mweb to offer  a series of data deals at reduced rates in a move that is likely to rankle rivals MTN and Vodacom.

Cell C made a habit of cutting data and call prices throughout 2012, and is at it again early in 2013.

MWEB, in partnership with Cell C, will offer consumers a 2GB Cell C data package at a discounted rate of just R89 per month.

Normally priced at R99 per month, Mweb is subsidizing R10 per month on each 2GB contract. In addition to the full suite of standard Cell C packages, Mweb will also be offering 5GB, 10GB and 20GB data deals at R499, R899, R1,799 respectively.

“We believe that Cell C’s products will be a perfect complement to our ADSL packages with their competitive deals to the market,” said Carolyn Holgate, general manager of Mweb Connect.

Customers who sign-up for any 12- or 24-month Cell C deal via Mweb will get added benefits including 300MB of free Wi-Fi per month; one year free Uncapped Website Hosting; a 2GB mailbox with 5 e-mail addresses; virus and spam filtering and 5GB Store-It cloud storage account.

The Mweb 2GB for R89 promotion is valid until 31 January 2013.
