Powertech in Quadpro acquisition

 ·6 May 2013

Power Technologies (Powertech), a wholly owned subsidiary of the JSE-listed Altron group, has acquired a majority shareholding in QuadPro, a business established to focus on offering turnkey substation solutions into the South African and African market.

This is a recently formed business which, according to Powertech, has already won projects valued in excess of R100 million. The business will hence forward be known as Powertech QuadPro.

Powertech has merged its already existing turnkey substation business division within the former Powertech IST (now Powertech System Integrators) into Powertech QuadPro.

This new combined operation will have the economies of scale and the resourcing needed to grow the turnkey substation business in South Africa and the rest of the African continent, Powertech said.

Neil Kayton, CEO Powertech, said: “Powertech has identified turnkey substation solution delivery into Africa as a strategic growth requirement. We found a partner to complement and enhance our own substation division with the acquisition of QuadPro, and we are confident that Powertech Quadpro will be a major contributor to growing Powertech’s business in South Africa and within Africa.”
