High probability of load shedding: Eskom
Eskom says that there is a medium probability of load shedding during the day on Monday (2 March), “with a high probability of load shedding for this evening”.
“Any unexpected changes on the constrained and vulnerable power system could lead to load shedding at short notice. We’ll keep you posted,” the power utility said in a statement on Monday.
Forecasting expectations for the remainder of the week, Eskom said there is a moderate chance that rolling blackouts may be implemented this week.
“The system is currently constrained but stable. One could say there is a 50/50 chance of implementing load shedding,” spokesman Khulu Phasiwe said.
He said the system was expected to take on more strain, which it could withstand.
“But if any of our generators break down then we may have to implement load shedding this week but our plan is not to implement any…”
