Absa launches property search app with Property24

Absa has launched the Absa Homeowner App, where prospective home buyers can conduct property searches, calculate home loan repayment costs, moving costs and transfer duties.

The application can be downloaded onto iOS and Android smartphones as well as on iPads.

The app was customised in close collaboration with the Barclays digital development team and includes most of the latest functionality included in the Barclays UK app.

“The Absa Homeowner App is a true example of the power of ‘One Barclays’ – customising global digital assets to benefit our retail customers in South Africa,” said Carel Grӧnum, Head of Absa Home Loans.

“According to the Mobility 2014 research study, the use of apps on smartphones has shot up from 24% in mid-2012 to 43% in late 2013.  In our sector, the app has become the single most significant tool driving real estate sales in South Africa,” Grӧnum said.

The bank has partnered with Property24, the largest property aggregator in the country.

The app has an intuitive user interface, saving all viewed properties which can be accessed later without connecting to the internet.
