Standard Bank unveils new website

Standard Bank has launched its new website, boasting “improved navigation which now contains links to products and services”.

The bank sent out an SMS to its clients on Wednesday (17 September), encouraging them to navigate the new site, which it said “has a Home page whereas the old website used the Personal Banking landing page as the home page”.

The bank pointed out that there have been no changes on online banking. “Everything in your online banking account/s has remained unchanged,” it said.

The new site also features “responsive design” to auto-detect the type of device you are using “laptop, desktop computer, tablet or smart-phone” and re-aligns itself to fit that device.

The bank scheduled IT maintenance on Sunday (14 September), leaving its online and mobile banking facilities offline, while also affecting its smartphone banking application.

It follows recent glitches to the bank’s services including ATMs, debit and credit card purchases, internet banking and app services.

Earlier in August, Standard Bank updated its banking app for smartphones, having originally launched its mobile app in June 2012.

The new app initially experienced technical issues with users unable to login, before the glitch was addressed.
