Krispy Kreme has announced that it will be opening its 800th store – and the first store in South Africa – at The Zone @ Rosebank on 25 November 2015.

The store will be the first of 31 Krispy Kreme shops which will open around the country over the next five years.

“The Zone is a cosmopolitan melting pot of cultures, creativity and style for the vibrant local population, making it the ideal introductory location for this world famous doughnut retailer,” the group said.

The group operates in 24 countries across the globe, and this is its first venture into Africa.

It was announced in May 2015 that Krispy Kreme had signed a development agreement with KK Doughnuts SA to operate the brand exclusively in the country.

Fournews Developments and John & Gerry’s Brands are the principal owners of KK Doughnuts SA.

Majority owner, Fournews Developments, currently operates six other brands throughout South Africa – including Café Fino, Newscafe and Smooch frozen yogurt.
