Krispy Kreme Doughnuts to open first store in Joburg

Local company Krispy Kreme Doughnuts South Africa says that its first store will be based in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
Krispy Kreme signed a development agreement with KK Doughnuts SA in May, to open 31 shops in South Africa over the next five years.
This marks the company’s first venture into Africa.
And while the location, and launch date of the first store is yet to be disclosed, KK Doughnuts said that people visiting the store will have an option of 16 Krispy Kreme doughnuts, along with a wide variety of locally roasted coffee flavours.
The first store is expected to open towards the end of 2015.
Gerry Thomas, CEO of Krispy Kreme Doughnuts South Africa said: “We are delighted to bring the joy of Krispy Kreme doughnuts to the ‘City of Gold’. We have found the perfect spot for our first store and will announce its exact location closer to the opening. ”
Krispy Kreme’s Original Glaze doughnuts, coffee, and other assorted sweet treats can be found in 1,000 shops in 24 countries.
“The city of Johannesburg is widely considered the window into the African market and is a melting pot of cultures, races as well as nationalities. It was only natural than that Africa’s economic hub be chosen as the first home for the first ever Krispy Kreme store in Africa,” said Thomas.
