Discovery South Africa appoints new CFO
Deon Marius Viljoen has been appointed as Group Chief Financial Officer of Discovery South Africa the company announced on Friday, 3 February in a trading statement.
Viljoen is joining from financial services group Alexander Forbes, where he first joined as finance director of Investment Solutions since 2003. He was promoted to Group CFO in 2007, and served as interim Group CEO for a short period in 2016.
He serves on a number of the Alexander Forbes Group subsidiary boards, including their insurance entities. Prior to Alexander Forbes, Deon was a partner and director of PriceWaterhouseCoopers Inc Johannesburg in their financial services team.
He was also named South Africa’s CFO of the Year 2015 by CFO South Africa.
Viljoen will officially take up the position as of 1 March 2017.
