Several of the South Africa’s largest retailers have announced ‘early’ Black Friday deals to cash in on what has become the biggest shopping week on the calendar.
Companies who have taken part in the growing shopping phenomenon, have reported record sales, particularly from their online sales divisions.
Makro, an early adopter of the American tradition, reported a record Black Friday with over R1 billion in sales in 2017. Sales over the period, it said, increased 25%, with online sales increasing to over 15% of total sales.
Makro’s sale will run over a five day period – from 21 to 25 November – with over 26,000 lines on promotion. It has also extended its trading hours over this period
