Checkers launches subscription service for ‘unlimited’ Sixty60 delivery

 ·22 Sep 2023

Retail group Checkers has launched a new subscription service for its loyalty programme, Xtra Savings.

Checkers Xtra Savings Plus has launched after a pilot period run by the group and will offer customers added benefits at a cost of R99 per month.

The polite was launched in June 2023 in beta with select customers, but has now been expanded to all customers.

The subscription offers unlimited ‘free’ delivery through Checkers Sixty60 as well as in-store discounts up to 10% and more personalised offerings, the group said.

Customers can only subscribe to the service through the Sixty60 app.

The services on offer come with a host of terms and conditions, however.

For the free delivery benefit, this only applies to baskets over R350, excluding the standard delivery change (R35).

The group also specifies that the benefit is limited to only groceries and certain non-food items.

“We may also exclude products with special delivery requirements at our discretion. For example, free delivery may not apply to a fridge, TV, or other large home appliances,” it said.

The in-store discounts also carry certain caveats.

The 10% discount can only be redeemed at Checkers, Checkers Hyper, Checkers Little Me, Checkers Outdoor, Checkers Pool, and Liqourshop stores once per month.

The discount benefit must also be activated in-app.

The discount is also limited to a maximum of R200. “Should you spend more than R2,000, you will only receive the maximum discount of R200. If you spend less than R2,000, you will receive a 10% saving on your basket,” it said.

The discount also cannot be used in conjunction with other marketing promotions like Black Friday or Xtra Xtra weekends.
