Capitec scores two big wins
Capitec has been noted as a fan favourite by EasyEquities, during the investment broker’s inaugural awards ceremony.
The awards ceremony, titled EasyAwards, presented several awards for shares traded on the platform, including the most purchased products and the most popular providers on EasyEquities.
Currently, EasyEquities has approximately 2.9 million registered clients, of whom 1.2 million are active on the platform.
The investment platform, which forms part of the Purple Group, said the awards ceremony was designed to create a unique look at South Africa’s investment landscape.
EasyEquities head of partnership marketing, Shaun Keeling, said, “We wanted to do something different and recognise what our investors actually do.”
“Every day, people on our platform start with a few rand or millions, spread their money across different wallets, bring friends along and keep investing. Those things have never been properly recognised.”
Capitec took two awards during the ceremony, titled The Fan Favourite ZAR and The Slice is Right, both for the number of people who purchased the group’s shares.
The two awards were for:
- The Fan Favourite ZAR: Recognising the product bought by the most unique investors in the ZAR wallet.
- The Slice is Right: Recognising the share bought by the most investors with an investment of R2,000 or less.
Capitec’s shares are often discussed due to the company’s strong historic performance on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE).
Since the company was listed in February 2002, its share price has grown by roughly 385,839% as the bank grew in size and market share.
The banking giant traded at R4510.29 per share when markets closed on 20 October, far higher than many of its competitors.
In comparison, other South African banking stalwarts such as Absa and Nedbank closed at R218.49 and R289.03 on 20 October, respectively.
Investing awards

Along with Capitec, EasyAwards noted several companies, products, and investors for various trading achievements.
These awards were decided based on empirical data from activity on EasyEquities and did not rely on votes or judges.
“No applications were submitted, no votes were cast, and no judging panel selected the recipients,” EasyEquities said.
“Every result was determined by investor activity recorded between 1 September 2025 and 31 August 2026, and calculated by the EasyEquities Business Intelligence team.”
Keeling said the awards are a reflection of the trading activity on the platform over the past year, based on its data.
“We’re using data to recognise the products investors choose, where they put their money and how they approach investing over time,” he said.
“It’s a fascinating reflection of how South Africans are investing, from those making their very first investment to those building diversified portfolios and growing their wealth consistently.”
Keeling added that the awards are a demonstration of “what’s really happening in both the retail and institutional investment space.”
Providers such as Satrix and Allan Gray received awards for their high number of unique investors on the EasyEquities platform.
Globally, the awards noted that the most purchased international product was Nvidia, which has seen its value climb due to its role in global Artificial Intelligence (AI) expansion.
The global product which attracted the highest net investment value was Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which publicly listed earlier this year.
EasyEquities said the awards show how much the company has grown since its founding in 2014.
The group’s chief enablement officer, Carel Nolte, said, “We also have clients investing millions, and we frequently see months where more than R2 billion is deposited onto the platform.”
“We’ve matured as a business, and so has the industry around us. These awards show what our investors are achieving at scale and which products and providers they trust with their money.”
