Eskom hopes to keep daytime load shedding suspensions going this week
Power utility Eskom says load shedding will continue to be suspended during the day, only moving to Stage 2 in the evenings this week.
This alternating pattern will continue until further notice, it said.
“This is as a result of the recovery of emergency reserves, the return of three generating units and the anticipated weekday demand,” said the utility.
10 March
- No loadshedding: 05:00 – 16:00
- Stage 1: 16:00 – 00:00
11 March
- Stage 1: 00:00 – 05:00
- No loadshedding: 05:00 – 16:00
- Stage 2: 16:00 – 00:00
12 March
- Stage 2: 00:00 – 05:00
- No loadshedding: 05:00 – 16:00
- Stage 2: 16:00 – 05:00 (13 March)
“The suspension of daytime loadshedding from 05:00 until 16:00 and the implementation of Stage 2 loadshedding from 16:00 until 05:00 thereafter will remain until further notice,” said the utility.
This may change, as a total of 3 330MW of generation capacity is expected to return to service by Wednesday.
