A look at the R1.5 billion skyscraper towering over Midrand

Any commuter between Johannesburg and Pretoria will have seen the new iconic 26-story PwC headquarters building being developed in Waterfall City.

The new R1.5 billion development will comprise 40,000 square metres of space and house 3,500 PwC employees as a new HQ for company, upon completion in early 2018.

According to the developers, the height of the tower – and the fact that it is situated on a high point in Waterfall City – will make it the tallest structure on the corridor between the Sandton and Pretoria/Tshwane CBDs.

The tower will be visible from anywhere within a 30km radius.

The building is located on the same site as Mall of Africa – the R5 billion shopping complex that will serve as the hub for the Waterfall development project.

The 323ha Waterfall City development project has a completion price tag of R71 billion, with 11 years of development still remaining..

The developers have released few images of the tower build, showing what the skyscraper will eventually look like in 2018.

Currently the tower is a concrete cylinder that will serve as the core for the final build.
